... serve at the pleasure of the Prime Minister?

Tom Harris, in reply to a response to this post says,
" ... all Cabinet ministers, whether MPs or Lords, are accountable by virtue of the fact that they serve at the pleasure of the Prime Minister."
Tom also says, within the post,
parliament is – or should be – sovereign
Discuss freely.

...and virtue of the West Lothian Question, the Prime Minister is NOT accountable to ANYONE (English, Scottish or Welsh) when it comes to such essential issues as Health, Education, Policing, Social services (and many others too numerous to mention).

So, they're all accountable to a person who is held to account by no one. Fantastic!

@ QM - I don't think Tom realised the importance of what he wrote.

@ Anon - It's an interesting sort of problem really, one of their own making.
