Mrs R went to Tesco earlier today intending to buy box of six tiny Christmas Crackers to put under the Rigby family's tree.
She had a bit of a problem though, and had to be checked out by a supervisor because the little box's barcode carried a secret message telling the computer that the Christmas Crackers are dangerous and Mrs Rigby could be buying them with nefarious intent.
Fortunately the supervisor realised Mrs R was unlikely to be such a person, and she was given the go-ahead to buy the Crackers and take them home.
Some rules really do seem to be, errm, crackers!
To what extent was Mrs R "checked out by a supervisor"? Was it merely that a supervisor had to ring up the crackers on the till or was there some sort of inquisition/enquiry? Does Mrs R now feel that she would have been better off if she had applied to go on the National Identity Register and got her ID card before attempting to buy crackers?

ReplyDelete@ 418 No, I have no plans to get an ID card, and if any shopkeeper ever asks me for one it will be the last time I use their shop.
